Dr. Abubakar Othman holds a Master’s Degree in African Literature and a Ph.D in Psychoanalytical criticism. He teaches African Poetry and Creative writing in the University of Maiduguri. Outside the academics, he was at several times a Commissioner for Information, a Director General for Museums and Monuments, and a Special Adviser on Research and Documentation, all in his Home State of Adamawa, Nigeria.

He was also served as Head of Public Enlightenment, and later as Chief of Staff with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja, Nigeria. He is the author of three books of poems: The palm of Time (Malthouse, 2000), The Passions of Cupid (Kraftbooks, 2010) and Blood Streams in the Desert (Kraftbooks, 2013).
