Habiba Alkali- Nur was born in August 1978. She grew up in the city of Maiduguri where she obtained her primary and secondary education and graduated from the University of Maiduguri in Business Administration. She worked in the health care industry in Maiduguri for eight years till she relocated and transferred her services to the FCT in the year 2015. The Phantom Army is her debut novel which was inspired by her personal experiences during the crisis that erupted in the state capital in the year 2009. The Phantom Army is a fiction that narrates the story of how terrorism unfolded in the fictional country of Geneira. It reveals suppressed narratives and untold stories of victims and perpetrators in the time of war.
