Florence Kayemba is a Harvard -trained leader and organizer with more than ten years’ experience working as a broadcast journalist in East and West Africa. A development communications specialist, who has consulted for international and regional organizations focused on public health, environmental rights, fair trade and resource governance. A social media enthusiast who’s interested in security and conflict issues specifically on emerging trends of conflict and counter-insurgency in North, West, and Great Lakes regions of Africa. An ardent reader of books focused on contemporary global political and security issues, her key research interests are security sector reform; preventing/ countering violent extremism; counter terrorism; transitional justice; children and armed conflict and; Disarmament, Demobilisation and Disarmament (DDR). She holds an Msc in Security, Conflict and International Development from the University of Leicester.
